My God has the Longest Dick - Peter Kohl on Art without Compromises

Petra Lossen Season 12 Episode 143

🌀 Art, doodling & cosmos - welcome to Peter Kohl's world 🌀
He wears graffiti on his skin and irony in his heart: Peter Kohl - born in Klagenfurt in 1971, at home in Ebenthal, but at home in the whole art world - is no ordinary artist. His paintings? A mixture of childlike seriousness, grotesque humour and social impact. His texts? Doodles with depth. His attitude? Uncompromisingly honest.

🎨 What makes his works so special? They laugh, provoke, love - and ask questions that we otherwise prefer to suppress. Between colourful chaos and subversive humour, Peter creates ‘text-pictures’ that enthral and challenge us. His characters, often animalistic and seemingly playful, are rebellious commentators on our times.

💥 His art is an outcry with a wink.💬 ‘Let's create space for the unplanned,’ says Peter - and that's exactly what happens: on canvases, in exhibitions and in people's heads.
📍 Peter currently works not only as an artist, but also as a lecturer at the Free Academy of Fine Arts Carinthia - and recently curated a spectacular special edition of Stay in Art, in which he broke up and reinvented the format.
🖍️ Favourite colour? Pink.🧠 Favourite weapon? Irony.🔥 Mission? To shake people up - with style, soul and a very long metaphorical tail.
